I constantly hear rave reviews about the Farmington Hills location from all of my colleagues, so I was glad when the Bloomfield Hills location opened up. Their menu is a bit pricey. However, the service is great and the warm bread/garlic butter is heavenly. The falafel sandwich and grapeleaves sandwich are both great and real bargains at $3.99/each - a great alternative to standard lunch options. One of these days I'm going to get brave and try one of their juice concoctions!! I hope these guys keep enough traffic to stay in biz because they certainly are gracious hosts.

We are visiting relatives in the area and found this place via yelp. As usual, we weren't disappointed. Delicious food and very attentive server. We had a party of 7 and everyone was very happy with their dishes. I had the Greek salad and added lamb schwarma. Huge portion with a mountain of lamb schwarma. The Greek salad had a nice lemon flavor.

Excellent and very consistent food. Hot pitas out of the oven with garlic butter are a truly guilty pleasure. The minty, lemony dressing on the chicken shwarma salad is wonderful. Falafels are always perfect. I could go on -- this is the best Middle Eastern food I have had in the area. Only complaint is that service is occasionally a tad slow but it is always cheerful and friendly. Also no liquor license. Which you won't miss.

La Marsa is my favorite Lebanese restaurant. Our top thing to get as a family is the vegetarian platter. It's the perfect place to go when you live a vegetarian lifestyle. A few times there was a misunderstanding and the owner and the staff were incredibly friendly, understanding, and went above and beyond to make everything right. The lentil soup blows my mind. Its the best lentil soup I've ever had. I've told a couple people about it and they love it too. The cobra juice, garlic sauce, falafel, tabbouleh, sandwiches are all top notch. Thanks for making some of the best food I've ever had.

It isn't my favorite. I hate to keep saying "it'll do in a pinch" but honestly if you are up this far north and need a shwarma, go to La Marsa and you will be relieved. However, don't make a special trip. The food is a bit pricy even with a coupon, and it isn't terrific. If you are in the Birmingham area, there is Falafel King on Woodward that is better or keep going south to Oak Park (Pita Cafe) or Dearborn (take your pick). No offense, but anyone saying it is their favorite Middle Eastern place is a little off base.

My go-to Mediterranean restaurant. They have several restaurants in the Detroit metro area, though this review is only for this location. To start, you get free house-made pita and garlic sauce. This is the mother of all garlic sauces. I did a side by side comparison with another area restaurant, and that's when I really noticed the difference in the garlicky quality this sauce. The pitas are also made fresh in their brick oven in the back of the restaurant. I've had several of their dishes mostly centered around meet. Their Kafta, kabobs, and tawook is very tasty and done just right. Not too dry. Plenty of food for a large appetite like mine. Also, the service is very helpful. Most of their staff has been there for a while now, so they are very knowledgeable and fast. The carryout is also very reliable with no mistakes so far. If you are looking for a solid Mediterranean restaurant this is the place in this area of town. It's tucked away in a discrete strip mall and just North of all of the businesses in Square Lake/Woodward area. They probably don't get a lot of drive-bys because of the weird location, but it's worth seeking out.

We had dinner tonight. Our waitress was Emily and she was great to inform us that the oil used for the fries and chicken fingers is peanut oil. My whole family has an allergy to nuts/peanuts. We ordered a half Deboned chicken *white meat only and it was flavorful and tender. It came with crushed lentil soup (amazing) and rice and some grilled vegetables. This is always our favorite. I ordered Lamb chops medium rare with a salad and grilled vegetables. The lamb was tasty and my wife shared a bit. My wife order the Shish Tawook in Lemon sauce it is was VERY GOOD. A strong lemon and herb sauce complimented the chicken cubes. I also had a beet juice smoothie which was awesome. A little side of hommus was fun to share while we waited for our meal. Everything was great. Will be back soon! Erik Food Blogger

Best Mediterranean food in the area! Great fresh bread with divine Toum to spread on everything! The lamb kabobs were the best we've eaten-so tender and flavorful! Also had an excellent lamb combo meal with grape leaves, lentil soup, lamb kafta, lamb meat pies, and kibbie. We fed a family of four in two entrees...the portions are huge!!

I was starving as I was driving home and did not feel like cooking dinner....so I swung by La Marsa to order a carry out. I thought it was very nice that as I waited they gave me a water with lemon and offered me refills. Nice touch. I had the shish tawook lemon oregano....nice big chucks of white meat chicken. Good flavors. The rice was just soso....I think there was a whole two slivered almonds, and I like me some almonds. The marinated carrots were the bomb. The salad was good....fresh lettuce, good lemon vinegar dressing. They dressed the salad though, which I thought was odd. The salad did not have any zumac, which I do like. I also had an order of the hummos. It was good, could have used a pit of olive oil to help it. The pickled turnips were really yummy. I loved the bread. Round little puffs, nice and fresh....and I got about 7 pieces. I liked you could add a dozen more for a few bucks. It is bread similar to what LaShish used to serve, but less sesame or none really. I have joined their email list and get monthly coupons. Unfortunately, that night I did not have it with me. There were 4-5 tables full of people, a few carry outs....seems like a good flow. The owner was very kind and made it a point to talk to myself and the other diners.

Amazing food! Fresh salads and tubouli. Love the crushed lentil soup! I have gone to this place so many times for middle eastern food and highly recommend it. The service has always been great and the house bread is delicious with the side of garlic fresh straight from the oven.

I was really, really impressed. Fresh, delicious, authentic, reasonably priced. I got the lamb combo plate and almost everything on it was delicious. Even the grape leaves, which tend to be either bland or weirdly textured, were perfect. And the pita bread with that garlic dip...if it's not the best I've ever had, it's a close second. One of my friends got the salmon plate, and it was cooked perfectly. Moist, tender, but still cooked through. The other one of my friends got the chicken shawarma and it was just a little dry. And everything was just a hair salty. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the food. All of the plates seems just a little on the pricey side until they actually brought out the food. A single plate and maybe an app is easily enough for two people. And when you take into account the quality, it's totally worth it. And everything is so fresh! It's probably the best restaurant middle eastern food I've had, and I've been to places in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Excellent, fresh food! I used to go to La Shish and Pita Cafe every time I visit my relatives in Michigan . This time I found La Marsa on Yelp and it was great ! Just like La Shish but in a smaller, easier package with a very convenient location . Definitely will be back!

There is little to nothing open that's worth eating in Bloomfield Hills after 8pm. La Marsa is a total surprising exception to that rule. Unassuming in it's location (strip mall off Sq Lk and Woodward), the restaurant is solid Mediterranean food with a warm and friendly staff. Matt got the Kafta pita and I got the lamb hummus - both were great. Highly recommend to try when you're in the area!

Thanks to La Marsa, I dream of pita. I have yet to find a middle eastern place in Chicago (where I live) as good as La Marsa. Metro Detroit, represent. Fine, clean interior--nothing fancy. There is no bar, just really good food and really fair prices. Everyone gets complimentary warm, fluffy pita straight out of their oven (looks like one of those wood-fired pizza ovens) served with wonderful garlicky sauce. Garlic lovers rejoice. People, rejoice. This is pita bread that needs to be celebrated. The lentil soup was warm, fresh and not overworked with too much spice. Simple goodness. My sister got a spinach salad which was a heaping mound of fresh spinach, dressed lightly. Whenever I order salad from a middle eastern place I half expect it to be wilted and drenched in dressing (based on previous experience). It was perfect here. The shawarma sandwiches were hot, fresh and the meat savory. Perfect for cheap people like me (at 5.99 with your choice of fries, salad, soup, or rice). This is my middle eastern go-to when visiting my parents back home.

I love eating at La Marsa! My favorite thing is the mjadara with a fatoosh salad and the garlic. Mmm. Had a spectacular shish kafta sandwich today for lunch!

I was so happy when this location opened up just north of my office a couple of years ago. I used to live in Dearborn and Middle Eastern food (more specifically, LaShish) was a regular part of my diet. After I moved out of Dearborn, it became a somewhat rare occurrence. La Marsa has definitely stepped up as a great replacement for LaShish and this particular location is quite lovely. The service is great, the lunch specials are stellar, and the food is delicious. I mean, you can't really ask for much more than that. My favorite lunch special is a Chicken Schwarma and hummus sandwich with a cup of lentil soup for, I think, $7? More than enough food and relatively healthy. Don't forget the garlic mayonnaise/butter stuff that you'll taste for days after, as well as the fluffy fresh out of the oven pitas that are unlimited. Incredible. The entree portions are gigantic. My Mom and I split the Hummus and Ghallaba today, which is a somewhat alarming $17.99, but you get awesome rice pilaf (or fries) and soup (or salad) with it and the entree itself is easily enough for 3 to 4 people to split and be satisfied. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because they can be a bit inconsistent. Today, for example, my Hummus with Chicken Ghallaba, was incredibly salty. Delicious still, but wow. Salt overload for sure. If you've been hesitant to try it because you thought nothing could ever replace LaShish, you may be right, but I gotta tell you... this is pretty damn close.

Our favorite Mediterranean place in detroit!! Lemon oregano chicken is amazing, we order other dishes and request this sauce all the time. Hummus amazing, fattoush is good (second only to pine land), awesome bread, great service! So excited for he one opening at maple and orchard lake!!

Driving around town, looking for a place that makes smoothies, when I crossed La Marsa. Many middle eastern restaurants make smoothies from scratch, so why not stop in for a healthy beverage. We received our delicious smoothies and began sucking them down. They almost didn't make it from the counter to the door, when the gentleman that made them told us that a big order that they just prepared was canceled. They had the option of throwing it away or offering it to us. They gave us two full salads (fattoush and Lebanese), fresh bread, and grilled chicken for FREE! They said if we don't take it, it's all going into the trash. We couldn't believe that it would end up in the trash, while simultaneously delighted they offered it to us. The food was fresh and delicious, but it was the customer service that exceeded all expectations. Between their food and customer service excellence, they deserve the five stars.

Not bad but nothing exceptional. It's good for a quick meal or carry out. Admittedly we've done carry out more than dining in. I don't think that the flavor is anything distinctive but it's certainly fresh and not bland tasting. Service can vary, occasionally being slow but the staff is never rude. The place is casual and comfortable and clean. I think the prices are high. One of the starters we got with hummus and baba ghannooj and tabbouli was $12 and the ghallaba we got was $19. Especially that last one is too much. I'd return because it's convenient but I'd never be a regular at those prices.

We ate lunch at La Marsa after reading Yelp reviews that mentioned the unlimited pita bread. It was beyond amazing. Two of us ate around twenty pitas and they sent us home with more! Chicken shawarma with tabbouleh sandwich was great and the chicken plate with hummus was out of this world. We also split an appetizer of baba ganoush, which I hated. The leftovers with added lemon and salt were okay. Staff was amazingly nice. Definitely worth going, especially for lunch and especially with a 10% off coupon from their website!

I am consistently impressed by La Marsa in Bloomfield Hills. The restaurant's a favorite of my family's. The food is always warm and delicious and the staff is kind and attentive, especially if you're eating in at the restaurant. I am particularly fond of La Marsa because of it's varied vegetarian offerings since good, interesting options can sometimes be difficult to find in the Bloomfield area. One of my favorite dishes is koshary (a dish of rice, pasta and lentils in a light, spicy tomato-vinegar. sauce). It's flavorful, filling and just the right price! La Marsa's lentil soup, freshly baked bread and garlic dip are always wonderful, too! I highly recommend La Marsa if you're looking for good food at a reasonable price. And if you're looking for a bigger deal on meals, the restaurant often has coupons in the mail, so be sure to look out for those. You can also sign up for text message coupons.

La Marsa is a very decent place to get middle eastern food. The bread is acceptable, it comes soft and warm. The garlic sauce they bring with the bread is of medium strength and has a good taste. I have had the moussaka with chicken, which is an eggplant and tomato sauté with optionally added meat that has a great flavor. I also have had the mujadara (lentils) and they were delicious topped with caramelized onions, especially when combined with the yogurt dip. They always have decent service, and I have always found the food tasty and generally healthy.

Have eaten at the restaurant on Rochester Road in Troy, frequently at the Elizabeth Lake Road in Waterford and recently at the Woodward Ave restaurant in Bloomfield. Even had the Woodward Ave location cater an in house lunch for 20 at work in March. The catering was top notch. They NEVER disappoint with the food. Service, eh. I'd say the service overall is ok to good. Definitely better service at the Rochester Road and Woodward Avenue locations for lunch. I frequent the Waterford location often for dinner and while the waitstaff is fairly stable, they're young and not as polished/thorough as they could be. Cuisine may be the best middle eastern outside of Dearborn. Crushed lentil soup is smooth, rich and savory. The garlic is always served with hot bread. I usually order the lamb kabobs with salad and rice. They salads are fresh with romaine lettuce, cucumbers and herbs. The dressing is full of great flavors and is worth purchasing to use at home. Have had the chicken kabobs as well. They are ALWAYS tender and moist, with wonderful marinated flavor. The lemon oregano sauce which is available with the chicken kabobs is creamy, a little rich and definitely worth adding.

You got to check out this place. I started with a glass of fresh juice...which was very refreshing. Followed by tasty, savory lentil soup and falafel. The thing that I actually liked the most is the fresh hot Pita bread and Garlic sauce...I would go there just for the bread if possible..its that good. I ordered the Mjadra Sandwich which was equally awesome.

This restaurant has typical Detroit mid-east restaurant fare: piquant & delicious garlic butter, hot, freshly baked pitas, carrot juice. Their hummus, baba ghanoush, & falafel are outstanding! The decor is nice & updated from the previous restaurant (Lashish) on the menu. They have family trays both veg & non-veg which is a good value for money.

Hands down one of the best chicken shwarma sandwiches I have ever had. The fresh juices are also very good. Service can be a little slow sometimes

THE WARM PITA AND GARLIC SAUCE. Can I get a hell yeah? My wallet and stomach are in agreement that La Marsa is a fantastic lunching spot. Any restaurant that brings out a delicious snack of pillowy carbs and fresh garlic spread before I'm finished with my first read-through of the menu is on my good side. While I usually fall on the adventurous side of ordering, I must admit that at La Marsa I'm guilty of many a chicken shwarma lunch. Mostly because it's a perfectly portioned little wrap for a midday meal, the taste is mighty fine, the price! so cheap!, and I can easily slather it with extra garlic sauce. Because that garlic sauce, yesssss, mmm hmmm. After a few bites you're already committing to garlic breath, so you might as well order up 2 or 3 extra plates for ultimate dipping pleasure.

My husband and I have been fans of La Marsa for quite a while. But today was the first time we tried their buffet. The first Sunday of the month La Marsa has a full Middle Eastern buffet. All our favorites were there including chicken shwarma, chicken kabob and lamb kibbee. They had salads including tabbouli, almond rice and roasted veggies. The dessert selection was wonderful and had two kinds of baklava, fruit and some kind of pudding. Their excellent pita bread and garlic spread were brought to the table piping hot. And our drinks stayed full. At just under $30 for the two of us, this buffet is pricier than an Indian or Chinese, but the expense of the ingredients and the quality definitely make this a great value.

Ate hear last night with my family of six. We arrived around 8pm and the resturant was basically empty, but the food was amazing so I am not sure why. We were quickly seated, given drinks and bread. Our food also arrived quickly. My husband and I split the beef kabobs and vegetables. The entree also came with a salad. Everything was excellent. If I lived closer (I'm from kansas) I would be back.

I have been here about 5 times now and each time it's been a awesome experience. Great customer service. They are always very polite and professional. The food tastes great and is a always fresh. The menu has plenty of offer. They get quite busy at lunch time and I would highly recommend.

I like coming here for lunch. The lintel soup is really good. The Wife and I usually get a couple pita sandwiches and split the soup and traditional salad. They have a juicer here too if you feel like having some. I hear they do a killer buffet once a month like the first ***day of every month, but I can't remember what day it's on.

Holy. Moley. La Marsa is incredible! I had heard about the La Marsa locations in metro Detroit for years from a friend and colleague who is local to the area, and she has never let me down. As a loyal, Elite Yelper who relies on others' reviews to discover local gems, I will not let you down in recommending La Marsa for some of the best Mediterranean food you'll ever have the pleasure of consuming. I stopped in to their Bloomfield Hills location on a weeknight with the hubby, and there was definitely a steady stream of customers dining in as well as carrying out. We were served immediately and enjoyed friendly, consistent, and knowledgeable service throughout our visit. Although La Marsa has a very extensive menu with all of the "typical" Mediterranean favorites, they also offer some really cool more Northern African/Mediterranean specialties that are unique to Morocco/Tunisia/Egypt that I definitely want to check out next time I'm in the area. Great for adventurous types or for those who have tired of kabobs, hummus, and tabbouleh. For our palates that evening, we wanted a little or everything, to truly sample the wares, so to speak. Fortunately, La Marsa has an AWESOME selection of "sampler" menus for any size party, and my husband's and my mind were blown when we found a $40 option that included the following: Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh, Lentil Soup, Greek Salad, Stuffed Lamb Dolmades, Stuffed Vegetarian Dolmades, and a HUGE platter of almond rice, grilled vegetables, chicken kabobs, kofte, lamb, more beef, and more chicken. Of course all of this bounty was served with plenty of fresh and warm puffy bread. We were obviously stuffed, fat, and happy by the time we threw in the towel. But man, did we want to lick those plates clean. I could not believe my eyes that all of this wonderful food that really exemplified what La Marsa does so well only set us back $40, plus the nominal charge for my extra side of raw veggies for dipping. We had plenty of food for leftovers, and our waiter was so helpful in his timing of bringing out the various "courses" and explaining to us what each dish was, and constantly topping off our water glasses! I can't wait to go back!

I had received an invitation from Najar at La Marsa asking me to act as a "mystery shopper." The invitation was interesting. He wanted me to dine at the restaurant, not to announce to anyone working there that I was a mystery shopper, and to order whatever we wanted for a party of up to six. Then I was to post a review (no holds barred) of the items we ordered, and Najar promised to pay us back whatever the meal cost. This was all supposed to happen before the end of January. I had planned to invite extended family members and/or friends join us. But it never seemed to work out. A lot of Flu was going around this month and I found it to be 1/31 and I still had not taken advantage of this opportunity. So tonight my wife and I went to La Marsa and just had a nice dinner for two. La Marsa was really packed. We have been to this location many times and a few of them were Friday or Saturday nights. But I have never seen the place packed as it was tonight. I wondered if other guests might have run the clock down as we had. We waited to be seated and fortunately were able to get a table far from the door. It was really cold outside and I didn't want to sit near the frozen tundra. So here is what we ordered. We were not glutinous. They brought us the omnipresent freshly baked bread and garlic sauce. It was hot, fresh and tasty as always and the garlic sauce was, as always, addictive. We usually order the crushed lentil soup. It is fantastic. But strangely our server told us that for the first time since she has been serving there (3 years), they ran out of the crushed lentil soup. So my wife ordered the salad instead. You get either a soup or a salad and either rice or fries with main dishes. I ordered the lamb chili. That salad was huge and tasty. In fact it was so big, she really could not finish it. The dressing, typical of middle eastern places is oil and lemon juice based. The lamb chili was thick hot and tasty. I had plenty of lamb and was quite satisfying. For entrees, my wife ordered the Shish Tawook with rice and I ordered the Lamb Chops with fries. The Shish Tawook was more than a generous serving and the chunks of chicken were juicy and tender. The rice side dish was also tasty and was more than most people can eat. The Lamb chops were ordered medium rare. The first chop was a little bit under-cooked, while the second and third were perfectly medium rare. The meat was served with grilled vegetables. I wondered, when considering my options, whether the standard 3 lamb chops was going to be enough. There was an option to add chops ala carte. I must say; 3 chops was more than enough. The lamb was so rich and flavorful. There is no way I would have appreciated another chop. The fries were thankfully hot when served and that portion too was over the top. There was no room for desert and we took home leftovers. My wife took about half her chicken and more than half her rice home and I took at least half the portion of fries home. The meal came to $ 49.60 with tip and tax. So it was another great experience at La Marsa. Thanks to Najar's offer, it was not only tasty, but should prove to be at the perfect price. We eat at this place more than a dozen times a year, and we often bring friends and family. Needless to say, we will be back.

I'll start this by saying that the food here is excellent, but the service is unreliable, hense 4 stars instead of five. Most of the time I get a very attentive and friendly waiter, but there are a few that work there that would rather text in the corner than help you. That said, the food is really good. I highly recommend the hummus with pine nuts and the bread that comes to the table is addictive and warm. When I go I get one of a few things: Koshary, Fatoosh Tawook, or the Lamb Sautee. The Koshary is packed full of flavor and is comprised mostly of grains and spices. The fatoosh tawook is a wonderful chicken salad that is always far too big to eat in one portion. Lastly, the lamb sautee is lamb and mushrooms in a nice sauce. It's extremely good in the bread they bring to the table with a little bit of hummus! Dig in and enjoy!

Have tried this place several times as it is really close to where I work. First time tried the hommous with lamb...chewy, fatty cubes of lamb. Icky and inedible. Prefer the ground lamb and hommous that I have had at multiple other restaurants around Detroit. As for my next, and final, attempt I ordered 2 chicken shwarma sandwiches for take out. Yuck!!! Dry, chewy chicken. I threw them out after 2 bites (1st one spit out). Ive had many delicious shwarma sandwiches in the past and am so disappointed that this restaurant is so awful because it is so conveniently located to my work. I am glad to see a Mezza Mediterranean Grill is opening up at Sq. Lake and Woodward. Hopefully it will be as good as the other Mezza's I've been to around the metro area.

A little disappointed with my last visit. I always get dinner at this location least once when I am in the area visiting family. In the past, the only issue we've had was a missing entree on a carry out order. The food is always fresh and well-prepared. However, my most recent visit left me a bit bummed out. While our server seemed pleasant, she also seemed a bit inexperienced, or just lacking in decorum. She told us she was leaving for the night, and therefore needed our bill, which was already paid for. Assuming she wanted to cash in her tips. Poor taste. I'll give her credit for at least telling us why she wanted the bill rather than just taking it. The gentleman at the host stand is very kind-- but he wears so much cologne, it follows him around the dining room. That is troublesome for two reasons, 1. that means you're wearing too much, dude! 2. I don't want to "taste" your cologne when I'm trying to enjoy your establishment's food! My dish was poorly prepared. It was supposed to be lamb schwarma. It was more like lamb-soaked-in-lemon to mask the fact that it had probably been prepared much earlier in the day. For a moment I thought they were trying to disguise beef as lamb! I left more than half of it-- something I never do. I didn't mention the lemony taste to our server as she seemed to be leaving. I probably should have said something, and will next time. The salad was well-prepared, fresh, and very green. The rice was decent, if not a little oily. The fresh bread and hummus were fine. The iced tea was powdered-- yikes! So for now, I will leave this as a 3star review and give La Marsa one more chance. Good thing there are many other places serving Middle Eastern food in metro-Detroit for us to try.

LI love the food here but they screw up my carryout orders everytime I come! Nothing is more irritating than to have a house full of hungry people and a third of the dinner ,paid for in advance, isn't there. Their response? free baklava. No more! they have screwedup my food 3 times that's enough.

My girl had a couple gift cards and wanted me to try this place. Generally I'm not a huge fan of Middle Eastern food with the exception of shawarma but she really liked the location in Brighton so I gave it a shot. First off the service was pretty solid and the bathrooms were very tidy and clean as was the restaurant itself. I started with an orange smoothie and my lady friend the Cobra drink with beet juice. Both of them came out fairly warm, mine a little less so than hers but they tasted OK enough. The pita and the garlic sauce are always a plus at the table and I liked them both if not to say that the garlic sauce is pretty spicy hot from the raw garlic. For the meal I ordered the chicken vegetable soup, which was fantastic and full of nice warm flavors, to accompany the chicken shawarma sandwich. Of the shawarmas around town that I really like (Bucharest, Mr. Kabob, and Falafel King - in that order) this one came in dead last. The pita itself was a little dry and it was cooked on a Panini press from what I could tell. The chicken was tasty but a smaller portion than what I've become accustomed to and the small amount of garlic sauce inside the sandwich left the wrap itself dry too. My girl's chicken Kafta plate was delicious though. The spices throughout the chicken were really warm and tasty enough to make me wish I had ordered that instead. All in all I didn't have a mind blowing experience here but I'd come back to try more of their menu and I really liked the fact that it was so clean even though the staff could've smiled a bit more.

Best middle eastern restaurant is La Marsa, hands down! Everything on the menu is REALLY good. My favorites are hummus with chicken, crushed lentil soup, Fattoush salad, vegetarian feast, and the warm bread...yum!

Best middle eastern ever. So glad that they have multiple locations, and they all have fresh baked pita bread. Once you have fresh baked pita bread, you'll never be able to go back to the divey places you were going before, especially when this is so inexpensive. La Marsa, you have a great idea. Please, consider going national.

It is not often that I venture north of Royal Oak for dining experiences, but this past Saturday I decided to check out La Marsa in Bloomfield Hills and I am so glad that I did. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I can honestly say that I have never had a better basket of bread anywhere else, ever. The bread was so fresh and warm and was served with the most amazing garlic sauce. I could not stop myself from devouring the whole basket and then some. At this point, I was already impressed with La Marsa and I had not even placed my order yet. Although everything on the menu looked wonderful, I had been craving chicken shawarma all week, so I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with rice and salad. The salad dressing was incredible, the chicken was very tender and, and the rice was...well what can you really say about rice other than it was cooked to perfection. The serving sizes were also very generous. In fact, I am enjoying the leftovers as I write this review. You cannot go wrong with La Marsa. I will definitely be a repeat customer and can't wait to try out all the tasty dishes.

Ok, lets start out here, the waitress was great! The food was incredible and huge amounts of it....Way 2 much for 1 person to eat, I went with the baba ghanoush followed by the chicken shawarma.....Very nice meal, did I mention the waitress was hot? :)

Bland food, slow service and the place was empty at 6:00pm. I won't be back.

Hands down my favorite. I live in Birmingham, so the "Pita Cafe" has long been my favorite, but now, it's La Marsa. I don't mind the drive up Woodward to either dine in or get take out. They will even put the dressing and other ingredients on the side in case you are going to have your Fatoosh salad later on. The staff knows me so I am always greeted with a smile and a warm hello. The chicken sharwma is a favorite and combine it with a Fatoosh salad, it's over the top. Always so fresh.

Good carryout middle eastern fare. Try the chicken sharwma plate for lunch. Fair prices for the quality and portions.

La Marsa is one of our favorite Mid eastern restaurants. The food is consistently good, fair priced and service is decent. We started with the hummus. It was light, flavorful and yummy! The hot bread straight out of the oven was great. The fattoush salad was fresh and seasoned just right. Two of us shared the lemon chicken tawook and lamb chops. I've never ordered lamb chops here before, and not so sure I'd order them again. They tasted "gamey." I also thought they may have been rewarmed. The chicken tawook, however, was delish! Loved the seasoning, chicken was tender and plentiful. My husband ordered the deboned chicken. Although he requested it not to be marinated because of a diet restriction and they weren't able to prepare it that way, he was very satisfied with the "as is" recipe. It was enough for four people! We will definitely be returning for another great meal soon!

We were looking for some kind of ethnic food on our way back up north and stumbled on LaMarsa. It was fantastic! Great bread and garlic, wonderful authentic middle eastern food. The lentil soup was delicious, and the lemonade a surprising treat.

From what I understand the cooks and waiter staff from La Shish has moved on to open up their own magnificent Mediterranean restaurant. Plenty of room, I would say about 20+ tables\booths available. From the moment you sit down you are served non-stop bread, fresh out of the oven. The bread and butter\garlic sauce is more than enough of a reason to come down and have a bite. Their humus is delicious, I can not visit without having some. Although the menu may seem a bit pricey, a great alternative is getting some soup and a sandwich. I prefer the lamb chili, but as far as sandwiches go (last page of the menu) they are all delicious. I recommend the Shish Tawook (like a chicken wrap with a garlic sauce and pickles, grilled). This will run around $6-7 and well worth it. The staff has always been nice and is refilling drinks and bread before you even need to ask. I highly recommend stopping by for a quick lunch or dinner!

i LOVE this place. The food is simple and awesome. The pita is served fresh out of the oven, and it is so delicious. Add hummus and some of the garlic sauce and you'll eat the whole basket and be asking for more. You may sweat garlic for 3 days, but it is so worth it. The lentil soup is great, especially with a little bit of lemon on top. The shish tawook sandwhiches are also good. But, I always go for the fattoush. I have moved away from the area, and I constantly crave this. There is nothing like it. It is perfectly seasoned, and a great mixture of texture and flavor. LOVE it.

We felt a large void in our hearts when we could no longer lunch at La Shish. Then our hopes were crushed when we tried Palm Palace and didn't enjoy our meal. But then we were given a tip about a little restaurant in a strip mall on Woodward, La Marsa. Our hearts (and our bellies!) are full again at last! La Marsa has all of the ingredients for a perfectly satisfying Middle Eastern meal. Not only do they have the amazingly delicious garlic sauce, but the fresh baked fluffy pita to put it on. The hummus was yummy and then mjadra and falafel are pretty good too, but if you get a mjadra sandwich they don't automatically bring you the yogurt. The side salad they offer is a really decent size and much cheaper then the salads offered on the menu. I love to order a side salad and a side of rice and mixing them together like the rice almond salad at La Feast :) We have now dined at La Marsa for lunch numerous times and the service has always been great. They get a bit of a rush around lunch time, but we have never had a problem getting a table, even when we come in a large group. Also, they have a lunch specials menu, but they won't give it to you if you don't ask. It's a good deal if you want to have a side (salad, soup) with your meal.

After reading other yelpers reviews, I realized La Marsa is the new La Shish, hopefully they aren't related to the old owners!!! Anyway, I felt like a bit of a traitor for going here instead of Grape Leaves, but I saw a coupon and being the yelp dork I am...I had to try a new place!! My regulars know I love my Grape Leaves, so this will be a compare and contrast review.... We got carry out, so I can't comment on the atmosphere, but this location also has dine in. Looking at the menu, it is on the pricier side thou-our order cost 10 dollars more than the same thing at Grape Leaves BUT these portions are larger, so take that in mind...but in this economy, every couple dollars counts-winner on price-Grape Leaves. Food: Totally dug the crushed lentil soup-it had a bit of a stronger flavor than most others and it was a 16oz. containers worth...also a tie. Lamb Gallabah-def. more $$ but I do have to give the taste of the lamb and quality to La Marsa...also served with rice, mushrooms, carrots, onion, and peppers...good effing stuff. Falaffel: It was in a sandwich, so it was hard to tell, but it was a little less crisp...still a tie. Dinner salad-larger than Grape Leaves, but seriously tastes the same as the side salad does at every middle eastern place...tie HOMMOUS: 7.49 for an order, which pissed me off a bit BUT the order was double the side of Grape Leaves, but sadly the taste did NOT even compare...it was too creamy, almost like pudding, not nearly enough garlic and very bland-Grape Leaves is a CLEAR victor. Pita-The sandwich pita was the same, but La Marsa has the pita pockets...winner. Re-reading this, it comes down to what you are in the mood for...if you want a more casual, cheaper meal with GREAT hommous, Grape Leaves is the place...I would go back here if I didn't have a hommous craving....but sadly, I usually do. You won't be disappointed thou, it's a good overall place especially if hommous isn't your thang...
